BONNYVILLE REGIONAL WATER SERVICES COMMISSION INTER-BASIN TRANSFER FOR WATERLINE EXTENSION TO SERVICE FROG LAKE FIRST NATION

Open House

July 28

4 to 8 p.m.

Cold Lake Courtyard Marriott

On behalf of the Bonnyville Regional Water Services Commission (the Commission), Associated Engineering is advising of a proposed application for an inter-basin transfer of water from the Beaver River basin to the North Saskatchewan River basin to provide potable water to the Frog Lake First Nation; future connection will also be considered to Elizabeth Metis and Fishing Lake Metis Settlements.

The Frog Lake First Nation is subject to fluctuating lake levels and water treatment challenges. A

regional water line extension from the Commission to the Frog Lake First Nation would provide a reliable potable water source to Frog Lake First Nation year-round. The proposed project consists of a new, approximately 47-kilometer transmission main line, and a booster station. The new transmission line will transfer a maximum 570,000m3 of water annually from the connection point with the Commission to Frog Lake First Nation, and the Metis Settlements through future connections.

The proposed project will adhere to all regulatory requirements including obtaining Water Act approval, Historical Resources Act approvalauthorization under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, authorizations under the Public Lands Act, and updating the water diversion license for Cold Lake. Alberta Environment and Parks will be completing a technical review of the project for this inter-basin transfer application. Any questions related to the review process can be directed to Derek Alexander, Alberta Environment and Parks at 780-960-8630 or derek.alexander@gov.ab.ca.

The project will be facilitating both public and first nation engagement prior to commencing land negotiations. An Open House for the public to view details of the project is being held at the Cold Lake Courtyard Marriott on July 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. Anyone with interest in the project will be welcome to attend to obtain further information or discuss with the project team.

A map showing the proposed location of the project is attached for your information. If you have any questions or comments about the project, please contact April Ziegler, Associated Engineering at 587-772-0562 or zieglera@ae.ca.
