The M.D. has been lauded by Former Minister of Municipal Affairs, Danielle Larivee, for its continued leadership in Regional Cooperation.
In a letter to Reeve Ed Rondeau, dated January 10, 2017, Larivee wrote "I applaud the work that the region has done to create this program (Inter Municipal Cooperation Program). This example of intermunicipal cooperation becomes especially relevant as we look ahead to the new Modernized Municipal Government Act and the requirements for mandatory Intermunicipal Collaboration."
Larivee continued, "I encourage you to continue the good working relationship that you have developed with your municipal neighbours."
This year, the Inter Municipal Cooperation Program will see the Village of Glendon receive $515,055, the City of Cold Lake will receive $645,800, with the Town of Bonnyville receiving just over $3.8 million, which includes $800,000 for the Bonnyville and District Centennial Centre.
