Number of years on Council: This is my first term.
Personal background: I have lived in the Lakeland since 1985. I moved to the M.D., near Alexander in 1995. I’ve been married to Tina for 22 years, and we have been blessed with six children. I have been involved with 4-H, ag societies, sports and car clubs.
Employment background: I am a retired RCAF flight engineer. I was a member of the review committee for the north east segment of the Alberta Environmental Farm Plan. I have been farming for 20 years, and have been active in agri-tourism. I am the owner of the Muriel Creek Ranch House - a net-zero energy Bed and Breakfast. I have been a director on the Lakeland Petroleum Co-Op Board for the past decade.
Reasons for becoming a member of Council: I pursued a position on the M.D. Council as I have had a long-term interest in politics, and recognize that the municipal level of government affects our daily lives.
Term goals and priorities: My primary goal is to provide strong leadership with an emphasis on fairness for all residents of the M.D. and to ensure their rural voice is protected. I wish to encourage positive collaboration with all of our neighbours, which will be vital considering changes to the Municipal Government Act. I will work with Council to support all of our industries and encourage investment in the Lakeland. I would like to develop a roads policy to determine upgrades and maintenance, to guarantee the responsible use of tax revenue. I would also like to see enhanced police services and lobbying of other levels of government to provide safe communities. I will follow the M.D.'s Guiding Principles to make our region the best place to live, work and play.
