Rocky Meadows U-Pick Saskatoon Farm & Café
started with Vince and Lori Toker’s love of Saskatoon berries. The couple was looking for ways to diversify their farm so they planted 1,000 Saskatoon trees in the spring of 2003 for their u-pick operation. Saskatoons are now ready for picking in July Later they added a cafe to their u-pick operation where fresh pies are baked daily and served to customers. Jam, salsa and pickles are also for sale. Rocky Meadows Café is open all summer and seats 25. It is available at other times of the year for special meetings and farm tours. You can also enjoy a round of Farmyard Mini Golf with your slice of pie. Or, if you are more adventurous have a shoot out at the OK-Corral on the new paintball course. It tests the best from May to October. They also offer a relaxing river float ride, a “Picnic By the Pond”, a hike to the Beaver River or a long term stay at their full service campground. For a day of old-fashioned berry picking and a slice of pie just like grandma used to make, visit Rocky Meadows U-Pick Saskatoon Farm & Cafe this summer! Rocky Meadows is located 13.4 km north of Bonnyville on Highway 41 and 3.4 km west on Range Road 624A. For more information call 780.826.6053.

The story of Lynn Rob Strawberries
began in 1988 with a single small patch of strawberries. Today, Lynn Rob Strawberries Market Garden is one of northeast Alberta’s most popular stops for fresh fruits and vegetables, sprawling over 10 acres of fertile farmland. The farm is located 10 miles north of Bonnyville on Highway 41 and four miles west on Township Road 630. The Lynn Rob season begins in May with bedding plants, flowers and vegetables. In June, asparagus and honeyberries are ready to go to market. Towards the end of the month, and into early July, Lynn Rob’s five acres of strawberry plants begin to produce fruit and will cycle heavily throughout the summer months. Warm temperatures in August and September can bring yet another bountiful crop of day neutral or fall strawberries. Complimenting Lynn Rob’s strawberry crop in July and August are the raspberries and Saskatoons.

Mid-summer is also the prime market season for Lynn Rob’s wide variety of vegetables including peas, carrots, beans, cucumbers, corn and potatoes. Regardless of what your favourite produce is, be sure to join the Lynn Rob Strawberries staff for their Customer Appreciation Day July 30.

A true family farm, Lynn Rob Strawberries Market Garden offers pre-picked orders and u-pick access with no appointment necessary. During the peak season of June through September the farm is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Customers can pick fresh produce to their heart’s content, then leisurely stroll the operational farm (complete with animals) while enjoying a cup of coffee. Taking Lynn Rob products on the northeast Alberta farmer’s market trail – in-season produce during the summer and jams, jellies and pickles during the winter – rounds out activities at the Bonnyville-area farm.
