Reeve: Ed Rondeau |
|
Ward: The Reeve is elected at large and represents the whole of the Municipal District of Bonnyville. Personal Background: Employment Background: Term Goals & Priorities: Contact Information: |
Councillor: Don Sinclair
Ward 1: I am very proud to represent this huge ward in the southeast portion of the M.D. of Bonnyville. It stretches from the Town of Bonnyville east to the Saskatchewan border. It takes in Fort Kent, Beaverdam, Muriel Lake, Beartrap Lake, Angling Lake, Ernestina Lake, and reaches all the way south to Frog Lake. The ward shares borders with the Town of Bonnyville and the Kehewin and Cold Lake First Nations, as well as the Elizabeth and Fishing Lake Métis Settlements.
Personal Background:
I was born and raised in the M.D. of Bonnyville. I have been married to my wife, Louise for 41 years. Louise keeps busy with her wedding cake and rentals business. We raised two sons, Mark and Ashley, on our farm in the Ardmore area where we still reside. Mark is married to Cheryl and they have three beautiful children, one boy and two girls.
Employment Background:
As well as farming, I operated an M.D. grader for many years. During the period of 1979 to 1986, I served as M.D. of Bonnyville Councillor for Ward 1. I was owner and operator of a sand and gravel business and later built and operated a convenience store. I am also a licensed auctioneer and real estate salesman. I am currently serving my second term as councillor.
Reasons for sitting on council:
Road maintenance is everyone’s concern. I will concentrate my efforts towards making it the M.D.’s priority. As well, I would like to look after the concerns of our own ratepayers; farmers, seniors, our small communities and acreage owners. I will strive to make myself accessible to anyone with concerns and do my best to “get ’er done”! Your concerns will be heard in Council.
Term Goals & Priorities:
It is my goal to create a better image of the M.D. and ensure a more positive and pleasant atmosphere for both employees and ratepayers.

Councillor: David Fox
Ward 2: Ward 2’s eastern boundary is the Town of Bonnyville and follows Kehewin Lake, down Kehewin Creek to Bangs Lake, then follows Thin Lake River up to Twp 61 and back east to Moose Lake. The northern boundary is two miles south of Dupre Road and the southern boundary is the Kehewin First Nation.
Personal Background: I was born in Bonnyville and raised in the Eastbourne area south of Moose Lake where I still live today with my wife of 39 years, Linda. We have two children, Dean and Deanna and five grandchildren. I have a passion for all things outdoors and count hunting and fishing as two of my favourite recreational pursuits.
Work Experience: Heavy equipment and construction have been the focal point of my career. In my 20-plus years of experience I have worked on road construction, hauled gravel, operated backhoe and batched concrete to name just a few of the positions I have held. In 1990 I left the construction business to oversee the cow/calf operation on the family farm full time, but I still manage to get behind the controls of construction equipment from time to time.
Reasons for sitting on council: The residents of the M.D. of Bonnyville deserve the best level of service from council and administration and should settle for nothing less. With my experience in the construction industry, I feel I can bring a level of understanding and expertise to council when dealing with infrastructure issues. It is my mandate to ensure residents get the very best value for their tax dollars.

Councillor: Mike Krywiak
Ward 3: The Ward 3 eastern boundary is Thin Lake on the south side and north to the Sand River and Range Road 470 on the north side, stretching south and west to the St. Paul County boundary, and north to the Lac La Biche County boundary.
Personal Background:
I was born in Bonnyville and raised on a farm northwest of the town. Presently, I reside on a farm in the Goodridge area, where I have lived for over 25 years. My wife, Linda, and I have been married for 35 years and have five children – two sons: Taras and Michael; and three daughters: Tanya, Tamara and Sonja. I have always had a love for the land, farming and animals. This has given me an appreciation for the rural lifestyle and respect for agriculture and the environment.
Employment Background:
In 1974, I graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education Degree. I then began my teaching career at Glendon School with the Bonnyville School Division No. 46. After 33 years at Glendon School, I retired from the Northern Lights School Division No. 69 in June, 2007. On October 15, 2007 I was given the opportunity to serve as a councillor for Ward 3 in the M.D. of Bonnyville and then acclaimed for a second term in 2010.
Reasons for sitting on council:
To be a dedicated councillor for the people of the M.D., to address their concerns and to ensure that their concerns are taken care of as quickly as possible. We need to provide the best possible service to our ratepayers!
Term Goals & Priorities:
My first priority is to be of service to the people – to listen to their concerns and issues and to deal with them accordingly as quickly as possible. We need to bring back the rural in the rural M.D. of Bonnyville and to put more focus on the small local communities within each ward. There needs to be better communication with the people, and councillors need to be visible more often in the communities. Agricultural services need to be strongly supported. The M.D. needs to continue to have a greater focus on road improvements. We also need to address concerns of the seniors and safety of the M.D. parks. Finally, there needs to be an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation within council and all departments.

Councillor Barry Kalinski
Ward 4: Includes Townships 62 and 63 (all Ranges 5 and 6 and portions of Range 7 lying left of the right bank of both the Beaver River and the Sand River and in Range 8 lying left of the right bank of the Sand River), Townships 64, 65 and 66 (all Ranges 5 and 7 inclusive and portion of Range 8 lying left of the right bank of the Sand River).
Personal Background:
I was born and raised in the La Corey/Iron River area. I have been married to Renee for 25 years and we have raised four boys on our farm. I am a full time mixed farmer, as well as working in the logging industry.
Employment Background:
I have been self-employed as an agricultural producer and logger all my working life.
Reasons For Sitting on Council:
I ran for Council to serve my community and to improve the services to the ratepayers in the M.D. of Bonnyville. I believe that the most important issues are those that are at “your” front door. I was asked by members of the community in Ward 4 to run for my first term and then was approached to let my name stand for a second term.
Term Goals & Priorities:
My broad goal is to improve the roads across the M.D. of Bonnyville. My current priority in Ward 4 is the Wolf Lake Resource Road and Dupre Road due to the amount of industry traffic that travels these two roads. As a full time agricultural producer I am also committed to maintaining the rural base of the M.D.

Councillor: Glen Johnson
Ward 5: Ward 5 encompasses the Hilda Lake, Ethel Lake, Crane Lake, Riverhurst, Alexander and Ardmore communities.
Personal Background:
I was raised on a farm near Ardmore. I went to school in Ardmore, then to trade school for my Welding Ticket. I worked in construction for ten years in Edmonton and then moved to the Riverhurst area in 1973 to farm and work in the oil industry. I was on M.D. Council from 1979 to 1985, on the Cold Lake Hospital Board for three years and the Riverhurst Hall Board for 20-plus years. I enjoyed the years that I was involved as a parent and leader of the Grand Central 4-H Beef Club. I have been married to my wife Fay for 46 years. We have raised four sons and have nine wonderful grandchildren. We now enjoy living on a farm at Ethel Lake.
Employment Background:
I worked as a Superintendent for Reids/Flint from 1989 to 2004. I then worked as a construction consultant across Alberta in the oil and pulp industry from 2004 to 2010.
Reasons for sitting on council:
I believe that I can make a positive contribution to the M.D. of Bonnyville by making sure there is two way communication between the Ward 5 ratepayers and M.D. Council.
Term Goals & Priorities:
I intend to work within Council as a team and serve the residents of Ward 5 by being their spokesperson regarding the issues they are facing. My goal is to find resolutions to the issues that face Ward 5 ratepayers – such as road maintenance, dust control and subdivision planning. I will ensure that I maintain direct communication with residents regarding their concerns.

Councillor: Fred Bamber
Ward 6: The East side of Ward 6 borders Saskatchewan. It encompasses the Alberta shorelines of Cold Lake with the exception of shoreline occupied by the Provincial Park, the City of Cold Lake, as well as Cold Lake First Nations. Ward 6 surrounds the City of Cold Lake, which places even greater importance on maintaining an amicable formula respected by the majority of residents on both sides of the equation. On the northern end we take in the eastern half of Marie Lake. While on the south side of Ward 6 we are neighbours with the Elizabeth Metis Settlement.
Personal and Employment Background: I was born at the Cold Lake Hospital, and raised on the family farm located a few miles east of Beaver Crossing. I am a graduate of the two-year Agriculture course at VSA, now known as Lakeland College, located in Vermilion.
My wife Connie (Burgess), a local girl from Cherry Grove, and I have two adult children with families of their own. Within a few years of our marriage, my career branched off from the farm to a lifelong career with Parks Canada. First as a Park Warden in Banff to a Chief Park Warden in Pacific Rim National Park, located on the west coast. From there we moved to numerous other national parks in western Canada as Park Superintendent, including time in Winnipeg, the Prairie Regional office, as well as the Yoho, Kootenay, Waterton Lakes and Jasper National Parks, plus the Western Regional office in Calgary. After 34 years of service I retired and we moved back to Cherry Grove, where I have since worked in the oil patch in the local area, and southeast Saskatchewan, up until my election to Council in 2010.
Of all the many beautiful places we have lived in western Canada, we chose to return to this diversified area of our great province. In this boreal mixed wood forest area, there are a number of beautiful lakes, with Cold Lake being one of our provincial jewels, which is shared with our Saskatchewan neighbours. A day spent on this lake, on a calm sunny day, is such a pleasure that fishing becomes secondary to the adventure itself.
Reasons for sitting on council: In my estimation, it is a privilege to be the Councillor for Ward 6 within the M.D. of Bonnyville, and to represent the residents within this Ward. I firmly believe there is no such thing as a free ride for anyone in this wonderful country of ours. As a result I believe I owe something back to our province and its residents. In this somewhat of a small way I can give some of my time back to this area where I was raised and where I learned the values which have stayed with me all my working life. Thus I see it as having two parallel goals over the time period I am elected to serve this area. First and foremost, is to represent the concerns of the residents of Ward 6. While doing so, I am looking forward to the opportunity of working together with the other Council members and our Reeve to maintain, and possibly improve, the rural lifestyle we are all attracted to within the overall M.D. of Bonnyville.
Term goals & priorities: Some of the goals which I see as important (recognizing that input from residents may add to or change the following goals) are as follows:
-Road infrastructure - To work with all Council members to ensure we can have a fair and equitable distribution of road standards throughout the M.D. Althought we have seen improvements, my perspective is Ward 6 is behind the norm in this area.
-We must continue to recognize the value of our farmlands and their growing importance, which is often overlooked in our land of plenty. The world food shortage is becoming a global crisis. Let’s not dismiss this area as having no real farmland value. There is a lot of land in our M.D. which should be preserved for farming and ranching, recognizing this area can compete easily with most farming areas for forage crops in cow calf operations.
-To cooperatively work with M.D. council to ensure we can continue to maintain, and even improve upon, our recreational and camping facilities throughout the M.D. This also includes winter sport activities such as downhill skiing, which are being enjoyed by M.D. residents, as well as being shared with residents of the neighbouring city and towns.
