Following Nomination Day, the M.D. will provide an Information Session for Nominees on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the M.D. Administration Office.

Attendees will be required to register by contacting Deputy Returning Officer, Ms. Sam Sadlowski at ssadlowski@md.bonnyville.ab.ca.

Candidate Registration

In accordance with Section 147.21 of the Local Authorities Election Act, individuals planning to run in municipal elections must be registered with the Returning Officer of the municipality. Registration must take place before a candidate can accept any campaign contributions. The required form (Form 3A) can be found here

Any changes to the information must be submitted to the M.D. of Bonnyville within 48 hours of the change taking effect. 

Please Note:

  • The Candidate Registration list is public, and posted on the M.D. website.
  • Once an individual is registered, they are permitted to start fundraising.
  • If an individual intends to completely self-fund their campaign (to a maximum of $10,000), they are not required to register.

Nomination Day is Monday, September 18, 2017.

Nomination Forms for Reeve and Councillor must be filed at the M.D. of Bonnyville Administration Office, located at 4905 - 50 Avenue, Bonnyville, AB, between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. noon on Nomination Day. Nomination papers will not be accepted before this time.

Nomination forms must be hand delivered. As long as the Nomination Papers have been commissioned by a Commissioner for Oaths, any individual may file Nomination Papers on behalf of the candidate. The candidate is responsible for ensuring that the Nomination Papers have been fully completed and meet the requirements for filing.
